Learn About the Southern Jewish Cemetery Association (virtual program)

6:30PM - 7:30PM  

The Southern Jewish Cemetery Association (SJCA) is the only initiative of its kind whose purpose is to preserve small Jewish cemeteries in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Southwestern Tennessee once those cemeteries are no longer under the care and management of their synagogues or their independent Jewish cemetery associations. 

The North Louisiana Jewish Federation is proud to have included the SJCA in the current year's allocations. 

Panelists will include:

  • Noah Levine, President & CEO of the Jewish Community Legacy Project.
  • Ron Sklar, President of SJCA and a native of Ruleville, MS. Ron was the driving force in the Greenville-Cleveland, MS cemetery preservation campaign.
  • Sylvia Goodman, Past President of the North Louisiana Jewish Federation member and native of Greenwood, MS. Sylvia worked with the SJCA on behalf of her hometown cemetery where her parents are buried.
