On October 28, 1965, the Roman Catholic Church transformed Jewish-Catholic relations with a document known as Nostra Aetate, "In Our Time." It has done more to reduce antisemitism worldwide that any other proclamation in history. As we celebrate it's 60th anniversary this year, we rejoice in our friendships with Catholic communities across North Louisiana and beyond.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the Diocese of Shreveport is partnering with the Jewish community to bring together clergy from both faiths:
On November 7th, Agudath Achim Synagogue, B’nai Zion Congregation, and the North Louisiana Jewish Federation will host Father Mark Watson of St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church, who will speak about Nostra Aetate during Shabbat services.
